193085443Seoul 1930. Near Fine. All are normal sized 9 x 14cm. Mostly consists of postcards from Japanese or Korean makers of Commercial postcards. One batch of 11 is in an envelope titled in English "Many Kinds of Picture Cards & Korean Products Just Fit for Present or Souvenir" and sold by Umiichi & Co. in Keijo Seoul. Another batch are in an envelope with a man wearing spectacles and a small-crowned top hat. leaning over the text. The envelopes may initially have contained more. The rest of the cards are loose. Cards captioned in varying combinations of English Korean and Japanese. Several of the loose cards seem to emphasize the quaint backwardness of Koreans; one features a semi-nude woman with the English caption of "To Chang sic Ones Clothes." <br/><br/> hardcover books

1919227911919. Painting. Very good condition. A group of 12 hand-painted postcards depicting women's fashion in the 1920s. The 5 artist signatures include "Rucio" "Orcina' and "Susie" with 2 undecipherable. All are in the style of the pochoir fashion magazine "Le Gazette du Bon Ton". On the verso is the standard postcard information for France "Carte Postale. La Correspondance au recto n'est pas acceptee par tous les pays etrangers Se renseigner a la poste" with a split back the address on the right and room for correspondence on the left. Two cards by "Susie" are charming - one woman is dressed in a blue sailor's suit the duffle bag slung over her shoulder with the notation "U.S.A.". In the other the young woman is wearing a short pink and blue striped outfit holding a nest of eggs the suggestive caption saying "Nous aussi nous retrouverons bientot notre cher petit nid!" We will also soon find our own little nest! The outfits are charming. Pencil inscription on some identifying the buyer as 'Mich' an American serviceman perhaps who presented the cards to his lady friend who is as "pretty as" the pictures. The postcards are unused printed on heavy rag card with untrimmed edges. unknown

Titles to the majority in various languages. Includes a menu card for breakfast dinner tea supper aboard H.M.S. "Protector" on Christmas day 1937. Presentation inscription in red ink reading: "Harold Fogg age 6 years / Birthday Present from Mama & Dada / 1909" to front paste down. Binding rubbed some leaves frayed at edges one leaf loose. All are addressed to Alfred Creutzberg handwritten in English or German on the verso except one where the handwriting is written in the photo border framing the girl's face with their original postage stamps and postmarks.
