1950ABC_487261950. Kept in a clear plastic sleeve. Various sizes. Four postcards and one press photograph. Collection of four postcards and one press photograph all relating to hajj. Every image shows a different aspect of the pilgrimage. The photograph shows a group of Moroccan men awaiting their turn to board the plane to Mecca and the postcards show the covered Kaaba both from further away and from up close and the arrival of the holy carpet in Alexandria. The final postcard depicts the public execution of two men.The postcard of the holy carpet has been used and has a black stamp on the front and a message and an address on the back the left margin has been cut slightly affecting the image and the handwritten text the corners of the photographs are somewhat creased. Seven Real Photo Postcards all printed on split-back CYKO photo postcard stock and stamp box w/ outline CYKO imprint indicating 1906-1915 dating slight edgewear very slight dustsoiling still NF set of images. This scarce group of Real Photo Postcards chronicle some of the floats and events from the 1914 Floral Parade held on the 8th day of Carnival Feb. 21 1914 with the parade forming at Aala Park in the afternoon. The first shows bustling crowds a cleared street men women and families lined up along the street as the parade passes down the corner from McInerny’s Shoe Store with store front and window displays clearly shown in downtown Honolulu. The next series of cards depict the pyramid of children sitting on the Lincoln-Lee Legion float touting their lifelong temperance pledges to abstain from alcohol a large model wooden ship on the Inter-Island Transportation float another showing Lady Liberty on a Spanish War veterans float; along with a RPPC of the Honolulu Fire Department Engine Co. No. 1’s first motorized fire engine what appears to be a 1910 Knox High Pressure Hose Wagon fitted with ladders on the side cab-over configuration and large Brass lamps in front fitted with ladders and firemen riding in the parade. The RPPC of the Iolani Palace lit up at night with floodlights bringing out the architectural details and revealing all of the windows draped in American flags. n.p., unknown

193085443Seoul 1930. Near Fine. All are normal sized 9 x 14cm. Mostly consists of postcards from Japanese or Korean makers of Commercial postcards. One batch of 11 is in an envelope titled in English "Many Kinds of Picture Cards & Korean Products Just Fit for Present or Souvenir" and sold by Umiichi & Co. in Keijo Seoul. Another batch are in an envelope with a man wearing spectacles and a small-crowned top hat. leaning over the text. The envelopes may initially have contained more. The rest of the cards are loose. Cards captioned in varying combinations of English Korean and Japanese. Several of the loose cards seem to emphasize the quaint backwardness of Koreans; one features a semi-nude woman with the English caption of "To Chang sic Ones Clothes." <br/><br/> hardcover books

The Society's Board of Trial conducted the proceedings "at the Society's Rooms." The alleged miscreants purportedly sought to "disorganize and destroy" the Massachusetts Medical Society and to become members of the Massachusetts Homoeopathic Medical Society. A By-Law of the Massachusetts Medical Society prohibited any Member from professing "to cure diseases by Spiritualism Homoeopathy or Thompsonianism."<br /> With defendants protesting what they regarded as a kangaroo-court the trial proceeded. The detailed closing arguments for "the Accused" are printed here as well as summaries of the testimony. Sold here together are three identically sized offset lithograph postcards attributed to artist Louise Lawler one red one green and one yellow all with the words "It is something like" printed on one side and "Putting Words In Your Mouth" on the otherwise blank white verso of each card. Each card measures 6 1/2 x 4 1/4" tall. Each is in fine condition. As a bonus sold with this set is a fourth card same dimensions which is white on one side and steel grey on the other with the words "There Is No Writing On The Wall" printed on the white side. Nine postcards eight in colour and one real photograph black and white postcard which is not part of the set 14 x 9cm envelope size 15.2 x 9.5cm Japanese captions. All cards in very good condition presented in a slightly worn and soiled pictorial colour envelope. This collection of post cards features eight young women in Manchuria and a separate real photograph postcard showing a beautiful Korean woman in traditional dress. Most of the Manchurian women wear qipao the accompanying captions introduce them as "attractive companions". Some of the women are portrayed as seductive while others look shy and innocent. . unknown

A small curated collection of 22 real photo post cards RPPCs most of which depict range-riding branding round-up Texas Arizona etc. roping breaking a horse or just being asked to pose for a photograph. One is colorized. Five postcards are canceled with a 1¢ stamp; postmarks from North Dakota Wyoming 20 Iowa and Nevada. Most are dated before or around 1910 with the exception of one more commercial card dated 1937. Seven postcards have some sort of identifying writing on the back - either person-or-place names and nine postcards are blank. <br /> <br /> Some of this fabulous grouping of photos of real working cowhands are just begging to be framed and hung on a wall. unknown
1919227911919. Painting. Very good condition. A group of 12 hand-painted postcards depicting women's fashion in the 1920s. The 5 artist signatures include "Rucio" "Orcina' and "Susie" with 2 undecipherable. All are in the style of the pochoir fashion magazine "Le Gazette du Bon Ton". On the verso is the standard postcard information for France "Carte Postale. La Correspondance au recto n'est pas acceptee par tous les pays etrangers Se renseigner a la poste" with a split back the address on the right and room for correspondence on the left. Two cards by "Susie" are charming - one woman is dressed in a blue sailor's suit the duffle bag slung over her shoulder with the notation "U.S.A.". In the other the young woman is wearing a short pink and blue striped outfit holding a nest of eggs the suggestive caption saying "Nous aussi nous retrouverons bientot notre cher petit nid!" We will also soon find our own little nest! The outfits are charming. Pencil inscription on some identifying the buyer as 'Mich' an American serviceman perhaps who presented the cards to his lady friend who is as "pretty as" the pictures. The postcards are unused printed on heavy rag card with untrimmed edges. unknown

Creating postcards during the war was an easy affordable way to spread the news visually about the areas most affected by combat through images of ruins life in the camps and the cleanup efforts of soldiers and civilians. A group of 30 black and white Albertype-process postcards all with different images of this retreat-house monastery located in Garrison New York. Founded in 1898 the Society of Atonement is a Catholic Franciscan order that maintains various community outreach programs; their founder Rev. Father Paul James Francis Lewis T. Wattson is currently a candidate under review for saintly canonization. The cards have two copyright notices on their backs about half the cards with Ave Maria Hour and the Prayer of The Blessings of God's Poor Upon You printed in the stamp section; the others with the copyright of St. Anthony's Legion with the prayer of May Jesus Mary Joseph be With Us On Our Way. Images include Father Paul school the cloister walk Little Flower Friary living quarters pictures of the grounds landscaping statuary friars at prayer and play interior and exterior views of the buildings. All of the cards with short printed descriptions of the images on their reverse sides. Not dated; however the Fr. Paul card notes his death in 1940.
