Auf seinen vier Expeditionen nach Zentralasien entdeckte er den Transhimalaya, die Quellen mehrerer Flüsse, den See Lop Nor sowie Überreste von Städten, Grabanlagen und der Chinesischen Mauer in den Wüsten des Tarimbeckens. Das vorliegende zweibändige Werk beschreibt Hedins zweite Expedition von 1899 bis 1902 durch das Tarimbecken, durch Tibet und Kaschmir nach Kalkutta. In der Nähe des Lop Nor entdeckte er die Ruinen der ehemaligen Königsstadt und späteren chinesischen Garnisonsstadt Loulan. Einbände und Kopfschnitte leicht stockfleckig. Hinterdeckel, fliegender Nachsatz sowie letzte Karte des 1. Bandes mit kleinem Loch (Kartenbild nicht beschädigt). Vorsatz des 2. Bandes etwas stockfleckig. Sonst sehr gute und saubere Exemplare.

The example of King Gesar is also understood as a spiritual teaching.
