The documents relative to Arabia include numerous pieces on the Sherif of Mecca, the Wahhabites, the Pacha of Jeddah, Sheikh Faisal's threat to Hajj pilgrims, and British interests in the region; others relate to the Wahhabite movement in Syria, the English blockade of Mocha and various insurgencies in Yemen, as well as events in Arabic countries from Iraq and Kuweit to Algier and Morocco. "Old Austria, beyond suspicion of imperialistic designs or ambitions of colonialism, was vitally interested in preserving the Ottoman Empire and protecting both its own chartered rights and the rights of man in this enormous territory, as well as in advancing the local economic development, a process, indeed, in which the Habsburg Empire itself played an important part. The diplomatic reports reflect this situation. Striving as they did to represent the facts without any political bias, strictly according to facts, they are of especial interest to the historian. brossura Óláfr Tryggvason fu re di Norvegia dal 995 al 1000. Óláfr Tryggvason è tra le figure preminenti dell'antico regno norvegese. Suo padre Tryggve, un regulus dell'area di Víken, morì assassinato nella lotta per il trono norvegese e Óláfr, esule, costruì la propria fortuna con raid e saccheggi a est e a ovest. Con l'argento ricavato dalle incursioni nelle Isole britanniche finanziò la propria campagna militare per diventare re e nel corso di una delle sue spedizioni corsare si convertì e ricevette il battesimo da un eremita delle isole Scilly. Nella tradizione nordica re Óláfr, con il suo breve regno dal 995 al 1000, è considerato l'Apostolo della Norvegia: gli viene attribuita la conversione della Norvegia, delle isole Orcadi, Faer Oer, Islanda e Groenlandia. L'evangelizzazione da lui promossa fu peraltro violenta, unita a un espansionismo "cristiano" e a una politica religiosa indipendente dall'arcidiocesi di Amburgo-Brema. Storicamente, il tentativo di eliminare l'influenza danese in Norvegia costrinse Óláfr Tryggvason ad affrontare una coalizione formata dal re danese Sven Barbaforcuta, lo jarl di Lade, Eiríkr, e il re svedese Olof Skötkonung nella battaglia di Svold in cui fu sconfitto. Per Adamo di Brema, Óláfr Tryggvason si suicidò in mare per la disperazione conseguente all'apostasia e all'inganno dei maghi di cui si fidava ciecamente; secondo le saghe nordiche, invece, scomparve misteriosamente dalla sua nave dopo un grande bagliore nel corso della battaglia in mare. Molti credettero che fosse andato in Russia, altri dissero di averlo visto in un monastero in Terrasanta.
