Some damp marking/browning to blank margins the glue used to paste at the margins has discoloured and occasionally damaged where used. With a charming watercolour frontispiece and decorative watercolour title-page blank margins of these discoloured. Folio 14 3/4 x 10 1/2 inches. The other columns are headed as to game shot and are for:Tiger:Leopard:Bear:Sambue:Chettal:Antelope:Boar:Geese:Duck:Partridge:Snipe: & Quail. Two colums heading are left blank for any other species one has bagged e.g Elephant Crocodile or Python. The facing page is for "Remarks" i.e comments on the day's sport e.g. "The Tiger measured after death 9 feet 9 inches was shot with a 500 Express" - "Python about 10 feet long" - "One Tiger has 3 unborn Cubs" - "Was charged by Cow Bison" - etc. The total for 1930 alone was 2089 head including 3 Tiger 7 Cheetah 1434 Duck & 438 Snipe and for another year 999 head including 1 Rhinoceros 1 Leopard 2 Crocodile & 5 Bears.Leather presentation label on front pastedown lettered in gilt "Presented to the Officers of 3rd King's Own Hussars by Lieutenant H. S. Laverton".Suitably and extravagantly bound in full polished crocodile with large hallmarked silver corners to the upper cover and the Regimental crest in silver mounted to the upper cover. Laverton died in December 1958 at the age of 85.He joined the 3rd Hussars in 1895 at Aldershot and went with them to India in 1898.<br />He accompanied the Regiment to South Africa in 1901 and became Adjutant in the same year. After the South African War the Regiment went back to India but returned to South Africa in 1907 when Laverton commanded "A" Squadron. He came back to England with the Regiment in 1911 retired in 1913 and went to Kenya.<br />During the Great War he commanded a battalion of the King's African Rifles and was made O.B.E.
