19260Royal Naval Artillery Volunteers First London Corps 1892. Report of General Meeting at the Cannon Street Hotel 17 March 1891. Accounts for year ending 31 Decermber 1891. On one side of a folio leaf with the accounts 'By Order D. W. MARDEN Hon. Sec. GENERAL AND FINANCE COMMITTEE' taking up the whole of one side and the leaf folded into a bifolium with the report of the Annual General Meeting on the other side as the recto of the first leaf. In fair condition lightly aged and worn Addressed with stamp and 5 March 1892 postmark to 'R. Harington Esq 1 New Court Temple EC.' The report of the AGM includes notification of the names of new committee members of an alteration to subscription rates and of a discrepancy in the 'Canteen Accounts'. The accounts are double entry with 'Receipts' including six items 'Not valued' among them 'the 'Challenge Cup given by C. E. Seth-Smith Esq. Lieut. Commanding Additional' and 'Furniture for Shed on Temple Pier' and 'Expenditure' including 'By Printing for Lower Deck H.M.S. Frolic' 'Gratuity to Chief Gunner Patter for Care of Stores' and 'For Baqnds at Opening of R.N. Exhibition and Church Parade'. Scarce: no other copy traced on OCLC WorldCat or COPAC. From the papers of Sir Richard Harington 1861-1931 of Ridlington 12th Baronet which contain two other items on the Royal Naval Artillery Volunteers offered separately. Having served in the London Brigade of the Royal Naval Artillery Volunteers from 1880 to 1891 Harington while an Indian judge commanded the Artillery Company of the Calcutta Port Defence Volunteers from 1900 to 1909. On the outbreak of the First World War he volunteered for the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. He was promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer in the Anti-Aircraft Corps in which capacity he served until 1916. Giving his address as 'Cary Tuttyt Charlotte Town Prince Edwards Island B. N. A.' With black rectangular stamp: 'RECEIVED IN 29 AUG. 1846 MILY. DEPARTMENT.' Docketted on reverse 'Does not appear to have enlisted 1839'. The letter asks for information 'Concerning my Brother George Tuttyt Who inlisted in Her Majesty Service about the year Eighteen Hundred & Thirty Nine In the horse Artillary East India Company enlisted in the County Tipperary Clonmel Iraland a boot & shoe maker by traid'. He gives a physical description: 'His hight being on or a about sic Six feet One inch his age between Twenty Six & Twenty Seven with dark eye full face drk hair and dark brown wiskers'. 'Ch: Town P.
