Harris's restricted report on Bomber Command operations Classified "secret" this duplicated-typescript copy of the final portion of Harris's comprehensive report was likely produced contemporary to the first formal publication of Harris's report in print. Part V contains statistics and graphs and the series of lengthy appendices discuss the development of bombing techniques and armaments tactics and radio countermeasures sea mining and the operational use of meteorology. Harris's report unequivocally justified the ferocious bombing of Germany in the second half of the war. It was printed in letterpress in January 1946 in a run of 100 copies bound in blue cloth. Three of these are now held institutionally Imperial War Museum National Archives and Rice University. In this typescript version the "Summary of Air Ministry Directives" is listed as a sixth distinct part but in the letterpress publication they became Appendix L. The graphs are the same as those issued in January 1946 with the exception of 5A which is a photographic reproduction of an earlier version on graph paper. Folio 330 x 210 mm. With 13 folding tables all but 1 in colour; issued without graphs XI and XIV. Text in duplicated typescript. Original black half cloth springback binder dark green sides front cover with printed title label covers with marbled linings. Binding lightly worn contents page with listing for parts I-IV struck through with green pencil: very good. hardcover
