Bound in period full diced calf with boards double ruled and the spine's five compartments elaborately decorated in gilt. Title on red morocco title label. Previous owner's name and address on a front end paper. The board's edges and joints are mild to moderately rubbed with a small strip of leather pulled away on the rear board. Still an attractive binding of this piece of Napoleonana. Thought to be written by Baron Antoine-Henri Jomini. Jomini is considered a father of modern military strategy and was the only author of strategy taught at West Point before the Civil War. In this book Napoleon is given an angelic guide of Heaven and Hell before arriving to his new Celestial home Politicopolis. . Henry Colburn unknown
