Juli 1945 in Malente-Gremsmühlen war ein deutscher Eisenbahningenieur und Politiker. Von 1926 bis zu seinem Tod war er Generaldirektor der Deutschen Reichsbahn ab 1937 zusätzlich Reichsverkehrsminister sowie kurzzeitig im Mai 1945 Reichspostminister.Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs blieb Dorpmüller oberster Reichsbahner trotz verschiedener Versuche vor allem von Albert Speer ihn abzulösen. Unter seiner Führung erreichte die Reichsbahn die größten Beförderungs- und Transportleistungen ihrer Geschichte. Zugleich sicherte sie unter Dorpmüller auch den Nachschub der Wehrmacht an allen Fronten des Krieges und war am Transport der Opfer des Holocaust in die Vernichtungslager beteiligt.
