19382310100094La defense francaise" Librairie critique Paris 1938. Paperback. Acceptable. Early French Edition of Mein Kampf banned during the German occupation In publisher's wraps. Cover worn with numerous tears. 13-635 pages 1 page 1 leaf ; 22 cm. This copy of Mein Kampf was the first to be translated into French but was not authorized by Hitler or his German publisher Franz Eher and was forced to be withdrawn. The French populace was obviously interested in Hitler's writings especially in regard to his intentions towards France. An authorized edition was translated into French in 1938 entitled Ma Doctrine published by a leading French publishing house Librairie Arthème Fayard. During the German occupation this edition "was placed on the list of "books withdrawn from sale by the publishers or forbidden by the Germans" often referred to as "Otto’s List" after Otto Abetz the German ambassador to France during the war." - See the New Republic "The Curious History of Mein Kampf in France" Manu Braganca July 5 2016.
