I colloqui riservati di Adolf Hitler qui pubblicati, raccolti a cura del gerarca nazista Martin Bormann (primo fiduciario del Fu?hrer), sono un documento risalente agli anni della seconda guerra mondiale. Riguardano infatti il periodo dal luglio 1941 (inizio della "campagna di Russia") al novembre 1944 (inizio della disfatta bellica del Reich nazista). L'importanza storica di questi colloqui hitleriani sui più disparati argomenti, e con svariati interlocutori, è davvero notevole. Da essi traspare la vera essenza politico-culturale, la vera personalità di Adolf Hitler. E confermano come il fu?hrer non fosse né un pazzo né un demone, ma piuttosto un uomo di potere strenuamente impegnato a trasporre in chiave politica idee, teorie e concetti propri della cultura europea, soprattutto ottocentesca e d'inizio novecento. Un messianico capo politico che, attraverso la democrazia rappresentativa, arrivò al potere cavalcando idee, fobie e fanatismi mutuati dalla destra radicale, dai movimenti nazional-patriottici e pangermanisti tedeschi e austriaci (col loro carico di militarismo, razzismo, xenofobia e antiebraismo).
