Paul Lombard est de ces critiques qui comme l’a montré Thierry Laget Proust Prix Goncourt Gallimard 2019 reprochaient à l’Académie Goncourt d’avoir décerné leur prix à un écrivain trop vieux trop riche : "Au lieu de cela cette année le prix Goncourt … échoit à M. Proust qui n’est pas jeune : il a conquis en peu de jours une notoriété dont j’ignore le secret ; le prix Goncourt même s’il l’a mérité ne lui sera d’aucune utilité" déplore-t-il dans L’Homme libre du 11 décembre 1919 p. 2. Hand-made souvenir photo album of Adolf Hitler's Bavarian mountaintop aerie Kehlsteinhaus known in English as 'The Eagles Nest' measuring 7 x 4 3/4 inches. Some of the images may be based in part on the photographs of the photographer Library of Congress identifies as 'Herr Bedo' this album is composed of 16 mounted photographs with captions supplied by hand most right around 4 x 2 7/8 inches some landscape some portrait with the opening image 4 5/8 x 3 3/8 inches. The images appear to be largely pre-1945 with exceptions such as 'The Big Tea Room' featuring a group of American soldiers in uniform and the two post-bombing views of Hitler and Goring's houses. Presumably created for the postwar tourist trade largely US military of visitors to Berchtesgaden. Bound in blue cloth over marbled boards images mounted on heavy brown card stock hand-drawn cover label reproduced as a photograph. Image captions: 1. Hitler's first home 'Haus Wachenfeld' 2.
