Questa battaglia, conosciuta anche come battaglia dei tre imperatori, infatti sul campo furono presenti anche lo zar Alessandro I di Russia e l'imperatore del Sacro Romano Impero Francesco II, è considerata il più grande successo militare di Bonaparte. Per quanto rigurda il ritratto l'incisione è stata eseguita da P. Audouin, Membre de l'Académie Imperiale-Royale des Arts de Vienne, mentre l'incisione della battaglia è opera di Duplessi-Bertaux.
