The majority of these photos are from late 1967 and early 1968 on location in Hue Nui Dat an Australian base now a part of Ba Ria Saigon and Long Binh/Bien Hoa outside Ho Chi Minh. Multiple images refer to Operation Coburg an Australian and New Zealand military action against the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong over the Lunar New Year festivities of 1968. It was the first time the Australian Task Force was deployed beyond its Tactical Area of Responsibility which set a precedent for later operations that extended beyond the assigned province of Phuoc Tuy. hardcover

1997010963Washington D.C: U S Government Printing Office 1997. 823 Pages/illus/maps. The year 1968 was the year of the Tet Offensive including Khe Sanh and Hue City. These were momentous events in the course of the war and they occurred in the first three months of the year. This book documents that 1968 was more than just the Tet Offensive. The bloodiest month of the war for the U .S. forces was neither January nor February 1968 but May 1968 when the Communists launched what was called their "Mini-Tet" offensive. This was followed by a second "Mini-Tet" offensive during the late summer which also was repulsed at heavy cost to both sides. By the end of the year the U .S. forces in South Vietnam's I Corps under the III Marine Amphibious Force III MAF had regained the offensive. Light edge-wear to dj. Text clean. 1st Edition.
