Inscribed by Senator Schumer on the title page to his friend and colleague former Senator Kent Conrad. The inscription reads: "To Kentie: Why do I love the Senate Most of all its because there are people like Kent Conrad who are there. You are a joy to watch listen to and learn from. I admire you and am glad we are friends! Chuck". Also included is a note from Senator Schumer on his Senate stationary to Senator Conrad dated April 26 2007 stating that Senator Schumer's book is enclosed. Charles Ellis Schumer born November 23 1950 is an American politician serving as Senate Majority Leader since 2021 and as a United States senator from New York since 1999. He has led the Senate Democratic Caucus since 2017 and was Senate Minority Leader from 2017 to 2021. He became New York's senior senator in 2001 on the retirement of Daniel Patrick Moynihan. Elected to a fifth Senate term in 2022 Schumer surpassed Moynihan and Jacob K. Javits as the longest-serving U.S. senator from New York. Daniel L. Squadron born November 9 1979 is an American politician and former member of the New York State Senate for the 26th district. A Democrat Squadron was elected a New York State Senator in 2008 and was a candidate in the 2013 race for New York Public Advocate. In August 2017 he resigned from the State Senate to work with entrepreneur Adam Pritzker and Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University to launch Future Now a national initiative to promote "policies focused on creating a better healthier fairer future."
