Founded in 1866, the G.A.R - Grand Army of the Republic - was the first intergrated national veterans organization. At its peak (in 1890) it had almost 500,000 members. There were 640 G.A.R. Posts in Pennsylvania. Post 97 was founded in 1880, and named for Col. John Butler Conyngham (1827-1871). One of the scarcest and most interesting pictorial histories of the Spanish American War. This is a piece that collectors in a variety of fields would find very interesting. PA34
