Reprint edition of this critical memoir of an American who fought in the French Foreign Legion in Syria during the 1925 Druze rebellion. Doty 1900-1938 fought in World War I trained with the Legion in Morocco & Algeria and then after the fierce and merciless fighting against the Druze and was decorated. After attempting to escape hard labor and being sentenced to a French prison the U.S. gained him a pardon and he returned to the U.S. He later joined the International Brigade in Spain and was killed in battle during the Spanish Civil War.
