Format in-4°(26x21).Edy-Legrand, de son vrai nom Édouard Léon Louis Warschawsky (1892-1970) a réalisé la première partie de son parcours dans l'illustration publicitaire et littéraire. Il participe à la première exposition universelle d'oeuvres gravées de l'Art institute of Chicago en 1932 où il représente la France. Exposé avec Picasso, Matisse, et Derain, il a été le seul à recevoir la mention honorable.

Signed presentation from Bainville to Max Dorian on the half title page. Max Dorain is the pen-name of author Bernard Doreau. Doureau wrote a well-known biography of the Du Pont family with photographs by his wife Dixie Reynolds. Also with a single-page autograph letter signed from Bainville presenting the book. With a lengthy one-page autograph letter signed untranslated apparently from Robert Poulet- the French polemicist writer and literary critic. "Robert Poulet" written in a shaky hand at the top of the letter. An interesting association copy! In the publisher's original quarter cloth and pictorial paper boards with the original glassine wraps. 16 colour plates and further illustrations in the text by the French artist Jacques Marie Gaston Onfroy de Bréville 1858-1931 known by the pen name Job after his initials. A brief history of France by Jacques Pierre Bainville 1879-1936 a French historian and journalist best known for his prophetic criticisms of the Treaty of Versailles. A geopolitical theorist concerned by Franco-German relations he was a leading figure in the monarchist Action Française. In publisher's original quarter cloth and pictorial paper boards with original glassine wraps. Externally very smart with just a little bumping to the extremities. Front board is slightly age toned with a scattering of spots but colour is still bright. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for some spotting to the fore edge and the first and last few pages.
