She is best known for four novels she wrote between 1967 and 1974: the trilogy "The Candlesticks and The Cross" "The Eagle and the Dove' and "Two Lives Two Lands" and the semiautobiographical "The Ultimate Triumph." She continued writing occasional articles well into her 80s. In the 1980s Solomon helped raise money for the renovation of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. A farmer and a professional violinist Northup had been a landowner in New York. In 1841 he went to Washington D.C.; there he was drugged kidnapped and sold as a slave. He was held as a slave for 12 years in the Red River region of Louisiana. Made into a movie in 2013 which received the Best Picture Award. Rare in first printing.
