India, while moving towards urbanization is passing through a rare historic moment in aligning urban growth and development with political, economic, and social trends. What is required is to actively engage and draw Inspiration from actual social and physical conditions with an ethics of care, respect, and honesty. About The Author:- School of Planning and Architecture "jain">Jain is an architect town planner working as Commissioner (planning), Delhi Development Authority. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Indian National Trust for Culture and Heritage (INTACH), a fellow of the Eastern Asia Region Organisation for Planning and Housing (EAROPH), International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISoCaRP), Indian Institute of Architects, Institute of Town Planners and founder member of the Indian Buildings Congress. He studied at the Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies, Rotterdam and University of Birmingham. He attended UN Habitat Conferences at Vancouver (1976 and 2006) and Habitat II, Istanbul (1996).
