No owner's name or bookplate. Pages are unmarked. No underlining. No highlighting. No margin notes. Bound in the original fancy green paper-covered boards with title gilt-stamped on the front cover. The author was a laryngologist and "speech doctor" who founded and directed the National Hospital for Speech Disorders in New York a free clinic. From 1920 until 1957 he published TALK a newsletter intended to disseminate his views on stuttering and various speech disorders. The pieces in this book originally appeared in TALK. These are stories aimed at treating speech problems by helping patients reduce turmoil in their lives i.e. not to teach "such individuals how to talk but to teach them how to live." quote from the Introduction.
