Kitap okuyuculara bu disiplin içindeki son araştırmalar ve saha faaliyetleri hakkında fikir vermeyi amaçlamaktadır. Ayrıca kitap ele alınan geniş konu yelpazesi ile Klasik Dönem Öncesi ve Tarih Öncesi dönemlere kadar uzanan farklı zaman dilimlerine atıfta bulunmaktadır. Araştırma makalelerini derleyen editörler olarak bizler ve kitaba katkıda bulunan araştırmacılar çok disiplinli yaklaşımın Etnoarkeolojideki önemli rolüne ilişkin genel anlayışı kabul ediyoruz.
