Greifswald zum Dr. theol. promoviert, an der er seit 1656 Prokanzler war. The violence of his agitation resulted in numerous arrests, and it is said that he was once investigated in more than 40 cases in a single year. Batiffol et Ph. Franceskakis. Le premier vol. est consacré à la procédure civile (1973), le deuxième à l’arbitrage (1974) et le troisième au droit international privé. C’est celui que nous présentons. Il contient les grands articles publiés par l’auteur sur cette question (De l’impossibilité juridique de constituer un trust anglo-saxon sous l’empire de la loi française ; L’office du juge et la loi étrangère ; Les actes de juridiction gracieuse en droit international privé) mais aussi l’ensemble de ses notes, principalement parues à la Revue critique mais également au JCP. Rare account of an archaeological journey through Lazio along the Aniene River, from the Villa of Horace (near Licenza) to Subiaco (the ancient Sublaqueum) and onwards to Trevi nel Lazio (Treba Augusta). The Italian archaeologist Antonio Nibby (1792-1839) excavated in the area of the Forum Romanum from 1827, and cleared Rome's Cloaca Maxima in 1829. - Tissue guard wrinkled and brownstained. Occasional insignificant foxing. A wide-margined copy from the library of the Ducs de Luynes at the Château de Dampierre: their bookplate reproducing the arms of Charles Marie d'Albert de Luynes (1783-1839), 7th Duc de Luynes, on pastedown. On connaît surtout de Poullain du Parc pour sa “petite coutume”, plus accessible et dans laquelle il opère une remise en ordre des articles par thème et fournit des petites explications et des références à la jurisprudence. Il faut d’ailleurs préciser que l’auteur passera sa vie à dépouiller et commenter plus de 2000 arrêts du parlement de Bretagne. Cette connaissance approfondie des règles coutumières et de leur pratique lui permettent de montrer l’évolution du droit depuis les grands commentaires de D’Argentrré et Hévin. Les Principes du droit françois sont plus à considérer comme un traité de droit civil que comme un commentaire d’articles. Il y joint d’ailleurs une étude concise du droit criminel que l’on retrouve dans les deux derniers volumes de notre édition. Ces contemporains le considère, en tout cas pour ce qui concerne le droit privé, comme le meilleur spécialiste du droit en Bretagne. Dupin, réf. 1213-30.

Celui-ci consiste en un recueil d’arrêts salué par Demole, Louet ou encore Brodeau. Il s’agit d’un ouvrage de grande rareté ; il manque à Cujas et à la BNF, cette édition manque également à Dupin (réf. 1308 pour les autres éditions).

Zweite französische Ausgabe von Robinsons ursprünglich anonymer Schrift "Account of Sueden, together with an Extract of the History of that Kingdom" (1694). Der fingierte Verlag ist identisch mit der am Titel der ersten französischen Übersetzung von 1695 genannten. Robinson hatte fast 30 Jahre als englischer Geschäftsträger in Stockholm gelebt; sein Werk bildete über ein Jahrhundert lang die Hauptquelle für das Schweden- und allgemein das Skandinavienbild in England, zumal die nordischen Kriege eben die internationale Aufmerksamkeit auf Nordeuropa lenkten. - Der englische Diplomat und Bischof John Robinson (1650-1723) hatte seine Heimat 1713 auf dem Kongress von Utrecht vertreten und dort als erster den Frieden unterzeichnet, der den Spanischen Erbfolgekrieg beendete. 1718 bemühte er sich gemeinsam mit dem schwedischen Botschafter, Graf Gyllenberg, um eine Union der englischen und schwedischen Kirchen, die allerdings am Widerstand der schwedischen Bischöfe scheiterte, denen der englische Protestantismus zu calvinistisch war. - Durchgehend gebräunt bzw- braunfleckig; der Einband etwas berieben, Ecken bestoßen, Rücken alt ergänzt. Zeitgenöss. hs. Besitzvermerk "F. S. Lohse" am Titel. Am vorderen Innendeckel Wappenexlibris der Gräflich Werthern'schen Bibliothek Beichlingen (mit hs. Signatur um 1900). Die seit dem 16. Jahrhundert auf Beichlingen ansässige Adelsfamilie Werthern brachte zahlreiche herausragende Offiziere und Beamte des Reichs hervor. Nach 1945 wurde das thüringische Stammschloss Beichlingen im Zuge der Bodenreform enteignet und diente unterschiedlichsten Zwecken; mit Thilo Graf von Werthern-Beichlingen starb 1986 der letzte männliche Vertreter der Linie. Leichpredigt auf die Familie des Freiberger Gewürzkrämers Andreas Köhler, der mit seiner Frau, seinem elfjährigen Sohn und seiner neunjährigen Tochter im eigenen Hause ermordet wurde. Obwohl der Täter, Simon Kästner aus Reichsstadt, den Raubmord durch Brandstiftung zu verschleiern suchte, wurde er gefaßt und mit Zangen gerissen und gerädert. Die Predigt schildert nicht nur die Tat, sondern enthält auch eine Ermahnung, die öffentliche Hinrichtung von Misstätern nicht als Lustspiel oder Spektakel zu betrachten, da doch Leute, die "einen gefallen an ihrem grawsamen Jammer und Elende haben, [...] erger denn der Hencker selbst seyn". - So komplett ohne den offenbar manchen Ausgaben beigegebenen Kupferstich mit dem Bildnis des in Eisen gelegten Mörders (hier im Faksimile beiliegend): das VD 17 führt die illustrierte Variante unter separater Nummer. Tatsächlich ist nur ein einziges Exemplar mit der Illustration nachweisbar (ULB Halle); dieses ist außerdem unvollständig (es fehlen die Bll. A2-3). Die Exemplare in Gotha, Dresden (2) und Zwickau alle ohne das Kupfer. - Etwas wasserrandig; eine Anstreichung von zeitgenöss. Hand. VD 17, 125:034515F.

Erste Ausgabe (eigentlich bereits Ende 1832 erschienen). - Der Handelslehrer August Schiebe (1780-1851) gab auch ein dreibändiges "Universallexikon der Handelswissenschaften" (1837-39) heraus, zu dem das vorliegende lexikonartige "Wörterbuch" gewissermaßen die Vorstufe darstellt. - Papierbedingt durchgehend etwas braunfleckig. Der Einband an Ecken und Kanten stärker bestoßen. Titel mit altem Monogrammstempel "GA"; am hinteren Innendeckel hs. Kaufvermerk (Budapest 1963). Kayser V, 78.

First edition. - Bilingual edition of the Alemannic code of feudal law by the jurist and professor at the Strasbourg university, Schilter (1632-1705), who was celebrated for his "pioneering work" (cf. ADB) in this field. The present copy includes a transcript of the code of law in the original Low German text, accompanied by a Latin version "providing a new edition of the text" (cf. Stintzing/Landsberg), as well as the introduction ("praefatio"), which is bound after the five-page index. Lacks the commentary and the "Sachsenspiegel" as well as the chapter on feudal succession ("Commentatio ad libri secundi consuetudinum feudorum titulum quinquagesimum de natura successionis feudalis") and the legal texts by Anton Mincucci, Bartolomeo Baraterio, Anton Dadin Alteserra and Marc-Antoine Dominicy, frequently bound with the main title. However, three of the four plates (all bound immediately after the table of contents) belong to Mincucci and Barateri, while the fourth one shows the Anglo-Saxon alphabet, corresponding to paragraph XIV of the introduction. Schilter's 12-page "Mantissa" from 1699, not usually found in this compilation, is bound between the plates and the main part. - Pages 96-104 rather browned. Slightly brownstained throughout.
