191344167Springer New Mexico: Melvin W. Mills 1913. 1913. NEW MEXICO. First edition. 8 1/4" X 11" typed letter on Melvin W. Mills stationery dated March 20 1913. Mr. Mills describes the horses as being "range raised horses" that they want to dispose of right away. The horses have never been grain fed and some at first may not even eat hay. The horses range in size from 14 to 15 hands high and weigh between 750 and 950 pounds. Plus a lot of additional information pertaining to the horses. They would be willing to sell as follows: "We would sell a carlot of them at $45.00 all around. We would put into a corral 50 or 60 and let the purchaser take out 30 head at this quotation. We would take half cash and a note for the other half payable in 90 days if a creditable bank would assure us that the paper is good and that they would discount it. Our Home Ranch is here in Springer. These horses are out thirty or forty miles on other ranches. We could have them here at the Home Ranch in a few days if a buyer should want to come and see them with a prospect of making a sale. We are planning to ship to Sherman Texas or some other place in the next ten days if we do not sell the horses here." The letter is unsigned. The back side of the letter has printed livestock images. Faint fold creases and a few light wrinkles else a very good letter. Melvin W. Mills, 1913. unknown
