Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original manuscript autograph letter signed (ALS) 'Ali Cenânî' as a deputy of Ayntab and its envelope, sent to Ali Mazhar Bey, who was governor of Ankara between 1914-1915 before Armenian Deportation. 25,5x15,5 cm. In Ottoman script on a paper with 'Meclis-i Mebûsân' [i.e. The Ottoman Parliamentary] letterhead and "Prie. Superf." watermark. 1 p. Folded. Thirteen lines. Ali Cenânî Bey was an Ottoman / Turkish deputy and politician who played a role in the organization of the Southern Front during the Turkish War of Independence against the French Occupation in Ayntab -Gaziantep-). Cenanizadeler's family, some important figures in the last Ottoman period were its members like Grand Vizier Cenanizade Mehmet Kadri Pasha and writer Cenanizade Asim, whose names live in their mansions in Kanlica, Istanbul. He was exiled to Malta at the end of World War I among the 150 Personae Non-Gratae. On his return, he showed benefits in organizing the resistance to the occupation in Antep and Adana regions. Ali Mazhar Bey, who was appointed as the governor of Ankara in 1914, ignored the Armenians' deportation order. Despite the warnings from the Committee of Union and Progress, he did not implement the order and was assigned to Aleppo. Talat Pasha informed him about his new post in a special telegram. Ali Mazhar Bey foresaw that he would have to apply the deportation order, which he found contrary to his conscience, in his new position, and resigned.

Le Comte Armand François d'Allonville, dit marquis d'Allonville fut nommé en 1778, second sous-lieutenant au régiment d'infanterie du Roi, puis en 1785 lieutenant. Major en second du régiment de l'Auxerrois. Avant la révolution il fut fait chevalier de l'Ordre Royal et Militaire de Saint-Louis et chevalier de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem. Réformé en 1791, il émigra, puis fin 1791, rentra en France. En 1792, il émigra à nouveau. Armand François prit part à la campagne des Princes de 1792. Fin 1792, il revient en France. Et de nouveau en 1794, émigra, avec son épouse Chartotte Levavasseur. En juillet 1799, son épouse décéda. Il demanda sans succès à servir dans la Légion italique. Vu ce refus en 1804, Armand se rendit en Russie où il passa une vingtaine d'années. On lui attribua la paternité du plan de Barclay de Tolly qui organisa la retraite des troupes russes dans la campagne de 1812. Nommé maréchal de camp en 1814, il revint à Paris, en 1815 et assista Alphonse de Beauchamp dans la rédaction d'un Précis biographique sur Louis XVIII. Cet écrivain succéda à Alphonse de Beauchamp, dans la rédaction des " Mémoires tirés des papiers d'un homme d'Etat, sur les causes secrètes qui ont déterminé la politique des cabinets dans la guerre de la révolution, depuis 1792 jusqu'en 1815 ". A famous essay (satire) in opposition to the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle (1748) which ended the War of the Austrian Succession (1740-1748). In Britain, George II and his ministers were seen by many as having conducted the war and the peace to the best advantage of Brunswick-Luneburg (of which George was Elector) rather than Britain. George and Britain did gain from the treaty in one respect: that one clause of it had finally compelled the French to recognize the Hanoverian succession to the British throne and expel the Jacobites from France. The ciphered name on the title and dedication are often taken to stand for Philip Dormer Stanhope, Earl of Chesterfield (1694-1773). Here, in pencil, is identified the likely dedicatee - the military Commander, John Lindsay, twentieth Earl Crawford (1702-1749). The same pencil hand identifies the anonymous author as Henry Fielding. This is unlikely to be correct. W129. Small Box 8
