19452353New York: New York Labor News Co. 1945. 4th Printing. 12mo 7 1/4 x 5 inches; 184 x 126 mm 39 9 pages in stapled wrappers.

Ferocious attack on William Z. Foster a longtime senior official of the Communist Party who gets tagged as a "war monger" "liberty bond salesman" "fraud" "Anarchist microbe" "mediocre personality" and similar terms of endearment. The Socialist Labor Party which the author led was a bitter foe of the Communists.

This pamphlet was originally issued in 1932. Our copy is the 4th printing from August 1945 presumably updated because the Communist Party ousted Earl Browder as leader and installed William Z. Foster to succeed him.

CONDITION: Vertical crease probably from mailing ink smudges to lower wrapper but internally clean and unmarked. About Very Good.
New York Labor News Co. books

191917439Chicago: Deutschen Sprachgruppe der Socialist Party of the United States 1919. First American Edition. 12mo 18cm. Printed card wrappers; 127pp. Very mild external wear; faint spotting to a few pages of text; Near Fine in the original wrappers. Probable first printing in America of Trotsky's account of the October revolution. English editions appeared the same year in London and Brooklyn but it is likely that this German-language version translated from the Russian by German-American scholar Jacob Wittmer Hartmann precedes any English edition. Interestingly a German translation had already appeared in Berlin in 1918 but the German-language group of the Socialist Party commissioned this new translation from Hartmann for the American edition. Deutschen Sprachgruppe der Socialist Party of the United States unknown books

A noter : le titre de la couverture est différent de celui de la page de titre qui est "Volontaires pour la potence". L'éditeur Maurice Nadeau raconte dans ses mémoires qu'on le força à retirer le livre de la vente sous peine de procès
