Jean Jaurès 1859-1914 né à Castres normalien et agrégé de philosophie fut un homme politique socialiste clé de la IIIe République évoluant d'un républicanisme modéré vers un socialisme réformiste marqué par le soutien aux mineurs de Carmaux et la fondation de L'Humanité en 1904. Il participa à l'unification du mouvement ouvrier via la création de la SFIO en 1905 et défendit la loi de séparation des Églises et de l'État. Jean-Émile Jaurès son descendant formé aux Beaux-Arts de Paris exerça comme affichiste et décorateur de théâtre. Ce recueil édité aux Cahiers de l'Atelier à Toulouse associe son uvre à celle d'Henry Lhong dans une démarche poétique unifiée.
