1872921910London 1872. Hardcover. Fair - Cash. Sun worn Magenta hardcover binding spine is missing cloth covering you can see the cardboard spine and cream cloth with white stitching. Previous library ID tag taped on the bottom of the spine. Has a gold design embossed in the center of front cover 'The Glory of Children are their Fathers' and 'Virtute et Fide' Virtue and Faith Book has been rebound as you can see the patch when you open the front and back covers. Previous library name stamped inside several times on the front covertitle page and back cover name embossed on both title pages. Edges are worn and sun faded fraying at the corners. Light staining on back cover you can see the the board through a hole in the front and back covers. Pages have some soiling a word or two written on a page but are otherwise unmarked. Stock photos may not look exactly like the book. hardcover

Vol.1. subtitled 'An Historical and Critical Introduction to the Final Philosophy as Issuing from the Harmony of Science and Religion' x4194 press puffs top & fore-edges rough cut from opening; slight paper cracking to end gutter a few very faint brown spots to t.p. otherwise internally clean tight and unmarked covers rubbed to all extremities and while fairly clean there are a number of minor surface marks of various kinds to front and faint surface rubbing to centre region of back; Vol.2. subtitled 'The History of the Sciences and The Logic of the Sciences'; vi4824 press puffs part unopened edges as Vol. with a couple of clumsy openings to fore-edge; front gutter cracked but remains fairly secure and repairable otherwise internally clean tight and unmarked covers generally clean front joint has rubbing and cloth nick towards top all extremities slightly bumped/rubbed. A ludicrously ambitious work by Princeton-based theologian who clearly thought his intellect outflanked all others past present and future. A third volume appeared in 1905. Scarce in UK. Weighs 2.65 kilos unpacked so allow for additional postage at 3 kilo rate.
