"Rancho Camulos. is a ranch located in the Santa Clara River Valley 2.2 miles east of Piru California and just north of the Santa Clara River in Ventura County California. It was the home of Ygnacio del Valle a Californio alcalde of the Pueblo de Los Angeles in the 19th century and later elected member of the California State Assembly. The ranch was known as the Home of Ramona because it was widely believed to have been the setting of the popular 1884 novel Ramona by Helen Hunt Jackson. A small octavo measuring 8" by 5 1/2" with a prior owner's book plate on the first free end page and with mild dust staining to the top edge of the text block. In a very good unclipped dust jacket but with a Christmas sticker over the upper corner of the front flap hiding the printed price. The ends of the spine area have very shallow chipping. 122 pages including an index and illustrated with maps and two sections of black and white photographs and with a multi-colored fold-out map in the rear pocket. The other is certified as a "true copy from Register of Grants in this Office" by the Secretary of State of Georgia Barne and still retains the red seal of his office.
