Light soiling to front cover otherwise clean and sound. Very good. The Automobile Club of Southern California founded in 1900 was one of the nation's first motor clubs.--dedicated to improving road conditions and signage providing maps and promoting motor travel generally. This booklet describes the points of interest and road conditions on a selection of major roads that would eventually lead the motor traveler to southern California. Those covered in the most detail are the Old Spanish Trail the Santa Fe or National Old Trails Road Lincoln Highway Arrowhead Trail and Pacific Highway. Briefer notes are supplied for U.S. Highways 66 366 54 70 450 20 12 and 10; the Union Pacific Highway; Victory Highway; Pike's Peak to Ocean Highway; Detroit Lincoln and Denver Highway; Custer Battlefield Highway Old Oregon Trail and Redwood Highway. A brief note remindes travelers of the need to book ahead for good hotels and campgrounds and a section on apparel reassures them that cars are now more dependable and roads less muddy such that "the modern motorist is usually a neat and clean person--a direct contrast to the motor pioneers of the early days."
