Miller Studied At The University Of California Berkeley Earning A B.A. In Chemistry 1898 An M.A. In Zoology 1904 And Ph.D. In Paleontology 1912. He Taught For Three Years At Oahu College Now Called Punahou School In Honolulu Before Earning His Master's Degree. He Was First Instructor Of Biology At Los Angeles State Normal School Which Would Later Become Ucla Teaching From 1904 To 1919. He Later Became A Professor Retiring In 1943. His Research Included Among Others Fossil Birds From Pleistocene Caves In California The La Brea Tar Pits And The Green River Formation In Oregon. With Funding From The University Regents He And John C. Merriam Excavated La Brea From 1905 To 1907 And In 1912-1913. Miller Was A Fellow Of The American Association For The Advancement Of Science American Ornithological Union And California Academy Of Sciences. He Served As Vice-President Of The Society Of Vertebrate Paleontology. He Was Awarded An Honorary Ll.D. By The University Of California In 1951. Known As "Padre" To Friends And Colleagues He Supervised Two Ph.D. Students Two Master's Students And Served On The Dissertation Committee Of Paleontologist Hildegarde Howard. This compendium gives some results not sure how complete it is of continual digs by archaeologists from Univ. Of California Berkeley the dig was Mrn-232 on the Point Reyes Peninsula area. "The contemporary inhabitants of the Point Reyes area at the time of European arrival were the Coast Miwok. 5 They left evidence of well over a hundred encampments on the peninsula with a population estimated to have been nearly 3000. Seasonal hunters and gatherers they were nourished by fish clams mussels and crab in addition to the deer elk bear mud hen geese and small game they hunted with spears and bows. The Coast Miwok utilized a variety of different plants growing at Point Reyes. Acorns served as a staple as they could be stored in dry granaries to provide sustenance when food was less plentiful. The various sessions of the 'Council of State Debates' took place between 1921 and 1946 and are very scarce.Present here are volume III Numbers 14 to 42 each retaining their original front and rear wrap and dating between Wednesday 24th January 1923 and Tuesday 27th March 1923.To the rear of this work are three index volumes: the Index to Volume III Part II; Volume II and III Part I.These sessions began as a result of the 1919 Government of India Act which gave effect to the Montague-Chelmsford Reforms. The debates included input from the Governor General the Council of State and the Legislative Assembly.Offering a very scarce insight into the governance of India in the early 1920s.
