A call for solidarity with the Western Federation of Miners strike at Cripple Creek one of the truly brutal labor wars in American history. This call was sent out to labor unions around the country. The inspectors of the state prison were instructed to examine employment programs to help prisoners readjust after discharge an early example of the halfway house. The inspectors found no examples at other prisons and also dismissed the idea as wrong-headed concluding that the prisons already did an adequate job.
