Swearingen the president of Standard Oil of Indiana and one of the most influential oil executives of the 20th century. When he became CEO in 1960 he deemed Indiana Standard Oil to be a "second-rate company." Through aggressive research and oil exploration Indiana Standard quickly became one of the most profitable companies in the United States. Swearingen was vocal about his dislike for federal regulators often supporting Republicans who shared his views on limited government. In retirement he was a close friend of presidents Gerald R. Ford and Richard Nixon. Swearingen died in 2007 survived by his wife Bonnie Swearingen who passed away in 2020. Ronson unknown books

In 1942 in need of young and talented lawyers he hired a new gradate from Duke University Richard Nixon. This work by former President Richard Nixon was published in 1992. It would be the last book that President Richard Nixon released before his untimely death in 1994. This book examines the political implication of a post-soviet world order. It implores political leaders to "seize the moment" in history but was at odds with the post-Cold War doctrine of George Bush which emphasized stability. President Richard Nixon was an avid baseball fan he attended 11 games while serving in office and in 1985 he arbitrated the dispute between the Major League Baseball owners and umpires over expanded league playoff bonuses. Nixon made headlines when on June 22 1972 a reporter covering the upcoming national election asked the President to name his all-time favorite ballplayers. Nixon's long list of great players inspired the reporter to make a unique request: the first ever presidential All-Star team. With the assistance of his son-in-law David Eisenhower Nixon put together the team and it appeared in national newspapers on June 30 1972. American baseball legend Joe DiMaggio is widely considered one of the greatest baseball players of all time and is best known for his 56-game hitting streak May 15 - July 16 1941 a record that still stands. Held on January 20th 1973 the second inauguration of Richard Nixon marked the commencement of the second term of Richard Nixon as President and the second term of Spiro Agnew as Vice President. Nixon resigned one year and twenty days into the term and was succeeded by Gerald Ford who had previously succeeded Spiro Agnew as Vice President 263 days into Spiro's term and following his resignation. While Nixon's premature departure from office often dominates assessments of his presidency his legacy has undergone reevaluation in the more than 40 years since his resignation.
