This intriguing kawaraban reports on the shipwreck of a Chinese trading ship in December 1800 Kansei 12 at Yamana County in present-day Shizuoka Prefecture. The print was crafted to convey the details of the incident to various authorities featuring an illustration of the distressed Chinese ship. The coastal area where this occurred faces the Pacific Ocean and has been historically referred to as the shipwreck coast. <br> <br>The report accompanying the illustration provides information on the circumstances of the incident offering insights into the nature of the shipwreck and detailing the size of the ship involved. Each is captioned with explanation of the significant event pictured and most have dates. The first photogaph has two light diagonal creases but all are in very good condition. 19 x 26cm. Text in simplified Chinese characters. These photographs were taken between 1921 and 1990 and depict a careful selection of significant news events of the time; conferences meetings between Chinese statesmen and world leaders military and political campaigns and markers of technological and economic progress. Included are a mix of popular and less well-known images from the Communist Party's history concluding with the 7th Plenary Session of the Party's 13th Central Committee in December 1990 at which the 8th Five-Year Plan was adopted. <br> <br>A common theme throughout the set is the recurring presence of Deng Xiaoping through the years ostensibly to highlight his dedication to the Party. His presence starts with his activities as a guerrilla in the Second Sino-Japanese War in 1938 his leading role at the Party's 8th Congress in 1956 and the Seven Thousand Cadres Conference in 1962 his launching of the Reform and Opening Up policy in 1978 and meeting with Margaret Thatcher in 1984 to discuss the handover of Hong Kong. . This is a collection of the Illustrated London News that was probably used to promote subscriptions. The date on the tile page indicates 1852 but the actual issues seem to run from December 7 1844 to July 5 1845. This volume contains about twenty issues during that period but does not include every issue. In some of these promotional collections some issues are reprinted but the reprints are from 1852. A couple of pages are missing but the issues seem mostly complete. This volume was put out about ten years after the Illustrated London News began publication in May 1842. It contains some very interesting news and illustrations including an illustration of an 'electric telegraph' in the April12 1845 issue a very young Queen Victoria and Prince Albert engraving at a costume ball in the June 7 1845 issue and a tennis match in the February 1 1845 issue.

It contains some interesting news and illustrations including a small engraving of a cricket match p.164 an article on prison reform October 22 1842 and catching a whale p. 388.
