New New English Original bdg. Dust wrapper. 4to. (28 x 20 cm). Edition in English. 269 p., ills. Alakent church: A Byzantine monument at Myra 12th-13th centuries. The presence of this small Byzantine church in the Alakent neighborhood of Demre has been known to archaeologists and art historians for quite some time. Revealing the structure from under the five meter deep alluvial fill in which it was buried was only possible as a result of the excavation work carried out in 2010 as part of the Myra-Andriake Excavations. The alluvial fill kept most of the aspects of the building such as mural paintings, roof tiles, facade decorations and spolia intact. The book was edited by the GABAM's director and member of Koç University Archaeology and Art History Department, Engin Akyürek. "The chapters of book are 'The Story of the Excavation' by Nevzat Çevik, the director of the Myra-Andriake Excavations, 'Myra: The Metropolis of Lycia', 'Alakent Church: Location And Architecture' and 'Conclusion' by Engin Akyürek, 'Architectural Sculpture' by Ayça Tiryaki, 'Wall Paintings' by Nilay Çoragan, 'Ceramic Finds' and 'Burials' by Özgü Çömezoglu Uzbek, 'Inscriptions' by Hüseyin Sami Öztürk and Christof Schuler, 'Conservation Treatments' by Sebahattin Küçük.".

New English Paperback. Pbo. 4to. (27,5 x 19,5 cm). In German. 502 p. B/w ills.

Hititology today: Studies on Hittite and Neo-Hittite Anatolia in honor of Emmanuel Laroche's 100th birthday.= L'Hittitologie aujourd'hui: Études sur l'Anatolie hittite et néo-hittite à l'occasion du centenaire de la naissance d'Emmanuel Laroche. 100 years ago, Emmanuel Laroche was born. As a scholar who was fascinated both by Indo-European Linguistics and Ancient Near Eastern and Classical Studies, he had a durable impact on Hittitology through his numerous contributions. His publications dealt with History of Near Eastern Religions, Cuneiform Philology, and Hittite, Luwian, and Hurrian grammar, among many other topics. This conference was organized in honor of his 100th birthday. Its aim was to discuss the recent developments in Hittitology, the ones to whom Emmanuel Laroche contributed and the ones which occurred after his time. The following themes are dealt with in this volume: Anatolian Linguistics, Cuneiform and Hieroglyphic Philology and Epigraphy, Religions of Bronze and Early Iron Age Anatolia, History and Historical Geography of Asia Minor, but also Near Eastern Archaeology, as Emmanuel Laroche was also very close to this discipline. Let us add to those fields Historiography which illustrates, among other things, the impact of Emmanuel Laroche's work on today's Hittitology.
