Mirabeau advocates absolute freedom of commerce and industry and stands against any form of obligation imposed on traders to have their goods from India delivered to a specific port. . In 8° (19,5x12,5 cm); 127, (3) pp. Brossura coeva. Qualche minima e piccolissima macchiolina di foxing e per il resto in buone condizioni di conservazione. Prima edizione, dato che pur riferendosi ad un'edizione precedente non si conoscono copie precedenti a questa edizione, di questo celebre scritto che ripercorre la vita e la politica di Mirabeau che fu tra i massimi oratori dell'Assemblea Nazionale e rappresentante del movimento rivoluzionario del primo momento. Morì a Parigi, il 2 aprile 1791, di una malattia che fece anche pensare a un avvelenamento, ma la causa della sua morte è in genere considerata la sua vita dissoluta. Poco prima della morte era stato eletto presidente dell'Assemblea Nazionale. Il suo corpo fu trasportato in gran pompa al Pantheon di Parigi. Tuttavia la scoperta di documenti segreti, nel novembre 1792, rivelò i suoi continui contatti clandestini con il re e la sua corte: con la speranza di divenire ministro di una monarchia costituzionale, aveva prodigato consigli e dato informazioni. Le sue spoglie furono quindi tolte dal Pantheon il 21 settembre 1794, la sua tomba fu profanata e i suoi resti mortali vennero gettati nelle fogne di Parigi. Buon esemplare. Raro.
