Prima edizione, non comune, di questo studio comparativo sulle teorie evoluzionistiche darwiniane e sul socialismo, sia nella sua declinazione marxista che nelle versioni extramarxiste. Il Woltmann (Solingen, 1871-1907), antropologo, naturalista e pensatore politico di orientamento socialista, tentò nelle proprie teorie una singolare sintesi tra il pensiero di Kant, di Marx e di Darwin che lo condusse ben presto ad approdi scopertamente razzisti (egli piegò tendenziosamente l'evoluzionismo darwiniano in tale direzione). Sostituendo l'idea marxiana della lotta di classe con quella della "guerra razziale" egli pose l'enfasi sulla la disuguaglianza naturale degli uomini e, pertanto, sulla legittimità della sottomissione e della colonizzazione dei popoli, precorrendo molti punti dell'ideologia nazionalsocialista. Il nazismo non a caso esaltò il pensiero di Woltmann, i cui elementi razzisti, antisemiti (pur essendo di origini ebraiche egli sosteneva la naturale superiorità degli "ariani"), autarchici hanno moltissimi punti di contatto con le teorie hitleriane.
