A valuable reference source based on a splendid collection of 18th century works particularly strong in literature and history which was largely built up by individual acquisitions in the 1930s and 1940s. Before preparation of this catalogue Lord Rothschild sent a written proposal of his plan to no fewer than 21 bibliographers or other experts Carter Greg Jackson Keynes Munby etc etc to obtain their advice and suggestions for improvement. The result is a splendid work with useful bibliographical detail on the 2739 principal entries including title-page transcriptions collations notes provenance references in bibliographies etc. Top edge slightly dust-stained minor tape-marks to endpapers otherwise a Very Good set.
