Il publie un Aperçu sur le Matériel de la Marine en 1829. Il propose de revoir les budgets de la marine de guerre, le nombre de batiments de guerre de la flotte française, le personnel nécessaire à son bon fonctionnement. A la fin de l'ouvrage, les dires du vice amiral sont observées voire contestées par le Ministre et le conseil d'Amirauté.
