Later wrappers are chipped soiled and nearly detached; contents are somewhat toned but generally this is a reasonably nice copy of this pamphlet that was part of the pamphleteering that accompanied the civil wars in France in the middle of the 17th century. Contemporary material by Mazarine is rare in commerce. Though issued in a couple of printings one with an the imprint: "A Paris: Chez la Veufue François Targa" there are relatively few institutions reporting ownership according to OCLC. Moreau suggests that this appeared shortly before Prince Condé's arrest based on context within the text. Moreau 2534. unknown

Cardinal Mazarin was an Italian Catholic prelate diplomat and politician who served as the chief minister to the Kings of France Louis XIII and Louis XIV from 1642 to his death. He was made a cardinal in 1641. His role as educator of King Louis XIV began on Louis'8th birthday and lasted until the Cardinals'death.</p><p>No other copies seen at auction since 1969.
