Ce traité connut une grande fortune et fut constamment réédité de la fin du XVIIème siècle à la Révolution. Les additions faites dans les nouvelles éditions montrent bien l’évolution du statut d’administration de la preuve à l’époque des Lumières. On soulignera les passages consacrés à la preuve des contrats et des obligations ainsi que le traité sur la comparaison des écritures qui constitue une captivante réflexion sur le statut juridique de la graphologie. De surcroît, les préoccupations de droit comparé (avec les différents régimes juridiques italiens ou encore avec le droit portugais) traduisent une pensée tout à fait moderne pour l’époque. Son ouvrage continuera de servir de référence pendant la première moitié du XIXème siècle (v. Toullier, 1ère éd., T. 8, P. 14 par ex.).
