Très rare suite de coiffures du XVIIIème siècle, complète de ses 24 planches rehaussées sur papier ciré, toutes légendées “Joh. Martin Will exc. A.V.” (Augustae Vindelicorum). Imprimé et publié par le graveur d'Augsbourg Johann Martin Will (1727-1806), cet ouvrage a pour but d’inspirer les coiffeurs. Chaque modèle est une prouesse capillaire pleine de fantaisie où les cheveux sont minutieusement sculptés pour atteindre des sommets, ornés de boucles et de tresses soigneusement disposées, entrelacées de rubans, de plumes, et autres accessoires luxueux. Provenance : tampon "Alexandre de Paris" sur la page de garde. Surnommé le Prince de la coiffure, Alexandre de Paris, né Louis Alexandre Albert Raimon (1922-2008), devient célèbre en mettant son talent au service de prestigieuses maisons de Haute Couture (Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Dior, etc), de têtes couronnées (la Princesse Grace de Monaco), et des plus grandes stars de la scène et du cinéma (Audrey Hepburn, Lauren Bacall, Liza Minnelli, Shirley MacLaine, Greta Garbo, Maria Callas, Sophia Loren, Arletty, Michèle Morgan et Romy Schneider). Jean Cocteau, son ami, dessina son logotype et la typographie de son nom.
