Antoine de Pluvinel, né en 1552 à Crest et mort le 22 ou 23 août 1620 à Paris, est l'un des précurseurs de l'école d'équitation française, avec Salomon de La Broue, il a fait évoluer les techniques équestres utilisées en Italie à la fin du XVIe siècle. Auteur d'un célèbre manuel d’équitation, L'Instruction du Roy en l'Exercice de Monter à Cheval, il forma Louis XIII et eut également comme élève Richelieu.
