A New System of Domestic Cookery; Formed Upon Principles of Economy: and Adapted to the Use of Private Families" by Maria Eliza Ketelby Rundell was first published in 1806 with subsequent editions revisions and spin-offs throughout the 19th Century. Frederick Davis's original publication of "The English Cookery Book: comprising Mrs. Rundell's Domestic cookery revised. With several modern dishes added thereto carefully selected and simplified English Domestic Cookery based upon Mrs Rundell's Cookery Book" was published in 1856 by the London publisher Darton and Co. and copies are held by the British Library and Cambridge and Leeds University Libraries this revised edition published by Milner and Company appears to have slipped the net of the major British libraries and there does not seem to be a copy held by any of them. This volume is undated by its appearance it would seem to have been published during the later part of the 19th century and almost certainly during the working lifetime of the author. The contents are: Introduction A System of Domestic Cookery: Sups etc; Fish; Entrees; Poultry; Meats; Gravies and Sauces; Savoury Pies; Game; Salads; Omelettes and Other Entremets; Vegetables; Forcemeats and Stuffing; Sweet Puddings Tarts etc; Jellies Custards etc; Sick Cookery; Index. The blue covers are decorated on the front with black and silver leaves and flowers and on the back with black flowers leaves and birds the spine is also decorated but is darkened and the cloth has split on both hinges The covers are firmly attached but repairs have been made to reattach the title-page and the last index page to the covers; there are no front or rear end-papers and no half-title page or preliminaries/contents page.
