8vo., First Edition, with plates, small neat contemporary signature on front free endpaper; green cloth, gilt back, a very good, clean copy in the dustwrapper. VERY SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION
4to., First Reissue thus, with musical notations throughout, title and preface mildly browned; original brown cloth, upper board elaborately blocked with multiple frame border enclosing cross all in blind and enclosing title lettered in gilt, gilt back, red sprinkled edges, radial corners, very neatly rebacked in cloth to style, a very good, bright, clean copy. This first reissue of the 'old' edition was invoked by popular demand following the uncomfortable introduction of the New & Revised Edition of 1904. It reproduces the full contents of the best (second augmented) edition of 1889 including the supplemental hymns added at that date. A lovely copy of a nostalgic edition, preserving many traditional melodies and choral parts. Very scarce in anything like this condition.
