In 1895 a group of amateur horsemen headed by the Comte du Cosse-Brissac established a riding club in Paris with these goals: "Le perfectionnement de ses membres dans l'art equestre revivre les traditions de l'ecole francaise et favoriser l'elevage et le dressage du cheval de selle." The exclusive club based at Jules Pellier's riding school thrived despite two world wars and marked its 50th anniversary with this book. Included are descriptions of the club's formal rides in the manner of the Versailles school.
