Printed wrappers 8vo. xxiii 413 1 pp. Lots 1796-3910 The second volume only of the three-volume auction catalogue for the sale of the library of Antoine-Isaac Silvestre de Sacy 1758-1838 a leading Orientalist and philologist. professor of Arabic at the École speciale des langues orientales vivantes professor of Persian at the College of France and curator of oriental manuscripts of the Bibliothèque Royale. This was the most important oriental library ever assembled by an individual and this second volume of the catalogue is focussed on de Sacy's collection of books on languages and literature which included many great rarities. The catalogue remains valuable for the careful and detailed descriptions by Romain Merlin.
