Impressionnant ensemble constitué de 5 chemises contenant chacune une notice des planches suivie de 40 planches en noir. La première chemise comporte en outre 23 pages de texte introductif. Le texte imprimé sur la deuxième chemise est simplifié (voir photo). Les chemises présentent des marques liées à l'humidité, la quatrième une déchirure sur le dos, et la cinquième déchirure et manque sur le dos. L'humidité a marqué certains des premiers et derniers feuillets. L'ensemble reste bien agréable.

The paintings are from a span of nearly a thousand years and are arranged chronologically. In each section the 200 plates are described with an attribution a short physical description and any notable comments on the work's history aesthetics or provenance. The descriptions are printed together in a short section of letterpress pages which is followed by the plates. The whole contained in a thick folding portfolio with three ties all in VG condition.
