Published anonymously this work was authored by Greek-American Telemachus Timayenis 1853-1918. In a fascinating 2020 article about Timayenis Scott D. Opera magnifica su carta speciale è uno dei massimi capolavori della tipografia francese del '700, considerato uno dei 100 migliori libri francesi illustrati. Esemplare eccezionale completo del ritratto del Fenelon, all'inizio del primo volume, finemente colorato di vivien e alix. Molti degli esemplari passati in vendita in atiquariato ed in aste sono privi di questo ritratto.
