With 8pp publisher's catalogue bound in at end. Arguably the single most important textbook for any student of medieval building., Parker's 'Introduction' is based on a lecture given in 1849 following extensive travel in France. It includes a valuable comparison of French and English Gothic in which the help of Viollet-le-Duc is acknowledged, together with an extended topographical and glossarial indexes. What is not acknowledged is the quality of Jewitt's woodcuts which enhanced every edition.
